Lestrade opened her eyes groggily. She'd had the strangest dream. She'd been crypnotised and had moved to Canada and been called Thia or something. She didn't remember much else, just Holmes and Watson (the first one) saying something about coming with them...she must be awake now.

But her flat didn't look like this.

The world around her was white and pearly. The air was thick like fog. She could see a long line of people, no, GHOSTS walking along a cliff and disappearing through a crack in the rock walls. They were smiling. Through the crack Lestrade could make out a cloudless blue sky.

Lestrade's eyes widened as she realised where she was. "NO!" The word flung itself out of her mouth before she could think.

A lady at the end of the line turned towards her. "What's the matter, dear? You'll be free soon enough. The line moves quickly."

"What?! No! I-I'm not supposed to be here! I have to go back! Back to Baker Street!" Lestrade jumped up and tried to run, only to realize there was nowhere to go.

"No, no, hon, you're dead. You can't go back. But come with me, we'll go out together."

"Go out?"

"See that rip in the rock? A boy named-" The woman got suddenly guiet. "A boy named Will made it. He made it with a special knife that could cut through the walls of one world and into any other. There are many worlds. He made it so that the Dead can dissolve into the living worlds, find their friends and family and then their molecules join together with each other and create a whole new living thing. Then they'll be able to live together forever."

Lestrade shook her head. "No, I don't care! I want to go back to Holmes and Watson! I'm not dead!"

Smiling, the lady took her by the arm and led her into the line of spirits. "My dear, I think you are. Look." She held Lestrade's hand in front of her face.

It was pearly white, almost see-through.

"But H-"

"Don't worry, dear; you have all eternity to look for your friends. You can search in every one of the millions of different worlds. Once you do find them, nothing will ever be able to seperate you again. Nothing."

The lady smiled once more and floated up to the crack. The line really did move quickly. As she went through, Lestrade could hear her call out faintly, "Will...Pan...." just before she dissolved and floated away into the sky.

Lestrade fancied that she could hear an answering call. "Lyra?"

Lestrade bit down on her lower lip...if this was the choice...and stepped through. The air seemed to be set on pulling her apart but she held her particles together long enough to call out.

"Holmes?....Watson?...."

Definitely not a masterpiece, but its purpose was to make me feel better and it's done that, so oh well. Five cazillion points to the person who can say what other book/trilogy I used in here....
