Lyrics & Music: Maureen S. O'Brien, 5/26/96
Insp: _Babylon 5_, "World Without End" by J. Michael Straczynski
I have seen the future, and it's not one I would choose:
Londo and his city burn in anguish, unconsumed.
But victory and love -- our son -- the things I must not lose --
Are chained by circumstance to Londo, Valen, Z'ha'dum.
I cannot change the future, or what has gone before,
But there must be _something_ I can do --
Soften the Shadows' curse,
Make things better and not worse --
Why else would I be given all these clues?
Tomorrow, there'll be time to grieve for all we lost today --
A man who left to fight a war and send words down the years.
But now, I take tomorrow and this newfound yesterday
And plan out how to pick the locks and lose the linked-in tears.
If I fail, God forgive me. There's centuries at stake,
A billion worlds of people not yet born.
Between chances I must choose
Which one's least likely to lose --
Not stand back till, once more, I watch them mourn.
